Why write?
I would say I write for the money and its true. I have to admit though, I don’t mind seeing my name on the byline in a slick magazine. The most hackneyed response to the question Why Write? is “because I must.”
No doubt, to be a successful writer, you have to be passionate about it. You can’t be like the (profession deleted to avoid embarrassment) I met at a cocktail party. S/he said to me, “So, you’re a writer, eh. I’ve been thinking about taking a couple weeks off to write a book.”
Yeah, right.
I know a lot of writers but I count only a few acquaintances as successful. We are the ones who spend eight to 14 hours — per day — at the keyboard. We are the ones who write a thousand words, just to use 100. We are the ones who collect many, many rejection letters — and keep on writing.
You wanna write! Dig in and do it!
OMG… Now I have 2 blogs that I am behind on. Keep it up. P.S. This comment comes after I have caught up on yours. I think that you are doing fine, remember that Geoff has a pretty good headstart on blogging.
